Nobody Loves August. We Are Just All Scared Of Telling People We Achieved Nothing In 2021
Fine , I get it, nobody wants to come off as someone who really did nothing tangible in their 2021. I mean, in a few months from now, everyone will want to post their wins and you do not want to be left out. So, you jump on the “August is for X and Y” challenge.
In reality, August is just like every month where you just don’t want to be stressed, you don’t want to be put under pressure and if possible not do a thing while you still live and eat.
So, why is everyone screaming they’d do X, Yand Z in august when exactly there’s no plan on ground for any, neither the desire to want to do that. The answer is quite simple; growth is extremely a hard activity to involve in and we humans do not like the hard stuff.
So, let’s just agree that you really want to grow in August and growth could cover a wide range of areas, which include; earning more money, expanding into bigger circles, learning a new skill, gaining clarity etc.
How do you set a Growth Map?
I spent a couple of minutes explaining the first few things in a very short video I made on How To Grow.
Quickly watch it below and take a few lessons.
We’ve got 5 months left, what are the things to prioritize to ensure you grow in the next few months;
- Your work life balance
I’d tell you what; a lot of people are living a very unhealthy work-life-balance. Some prioritize work over other life activities while others prioritize the latter. There needs to be a balance even though it cannot be ideal.
We are in the internet age and a lot of people spend so much time on social media platforms yet do not have the slightest idea that they have slept for hours on such platforms. So, here’s what you should do;
- Create a time management system to log you off activities that you know you could possible cut some hours off and not get affected
- Have an evaluation system daily and weekly to ensure you really did a thing. It could be a few minutes given to thoughts
- Set up new hobbies or activities to give yourself to that will help you improve on areas you default
- Get a coach: people don’t know how really important this is.
2. Your Sanity:
If you want to make progress, then you need to be in the right state of mind to do so and sadly, people do not prioritize their sanity over other things.
Look, forget about the whole rush to want to do things at all costs because you do not want to be the odd one out when everyone is sharing their achievements by the end of the year. If you do this at the detriment of your mental health or sanity, then you might just be causing a lot of trouble for yourself. So prioritize it.
3. Carefully craft out a growth journey:
You cannot rush growth, neither can you jump it and get to the point where you’d be rewarded, you need to take some steps and it’s perfectly fine if they are just baby steps.
Don’t aspire to achieve something people spent decades to get to in a few months. This might be possible but what it might cost you might be fatal, so carefully craft out a growth plan.
If you don’t know how to craft out a growth plan, then watch this video again and subscribe to the channel because other videos relating to this will be released.
