HOW NOT TO SOLVE UNEMPLOYMENT CRISIS
For decades, which has gotten so worse in the past few years that every quarter unemployment rises, we still keep fighting the air as a nation thinking we are tackling unemployment.
Firstly, I would love to say with all confidence that depending on the government to provide more jobs for the masses till everyone gets employed would be like stirring a pool with a needle and this is due to several reasons.
Before I list the reasons, I am of the opinion that there are actually jobs but no qualified personnel to take on those jobs.
Now, back to the reasons why it would be futile to wait for the government to provide jobs for the masses till we're all employed.
1. The world has advanced and there's a new operation of work in which a larger percentage of the nation hasn't gotten to realize this.
2. Every year, we have tonnes of students being produced from the University clueless about this new system of the world pertaining to the operation of work.
3. The school itself (education system) is not doing anything to catch up with the advancement of the new world of operation.
4. The society or nation is still totally depending on the University degree as the criterion /yardstick for determining success whereas what the University degree teaches is still way behind.
I won't go into details of what the University degree teaches but I will tackle the societal belief that success can be earned by only going through the University.
Firstly, the school / university should be a place to develop creativity and expand learning but it so more crystal and clear that the school is a place for indoctrination and this has always been the purpose of the industrial system of education that we use (I'll talk about this some other day).
I'll propose an argument and fault it if you want but I'm deeply convinced this is one of the root problems.
Most of our parents get excited that we were able to identify X for Xylophone and spell it but they never bothered to know if we know what a xylophone actually is and most of us till now do not know.
Which is more important, knowing that X is for xylophone or knowing what a Xylophone is and that it starts with X?
Now, you'll see that the very purpose of this industrial system of learning is actually not LEARNING but indoctrination.
I wouldn't dwell too much on this because it is a full topic for another day.
What I'm here to tackle actually is "Why would the government think that providing more jobs would solve unemployment?
It is the same as saying we can solve educational problem by building more schools. I laugh at this mentality because we have to first identify what a school is and what it should be doing.
The nation has totally focused on a university degree which has made us all to be brainwashed that the only way to be successful is attaining that degree so you see that we'll keep having lots of people rushing into the University which naturally they shouldn't be.
THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT MEANT FOR EVERYONE
I REPEAT, THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT MEANT FOR EVERYONE.
We were all born different and thanks to the school system for grouping us all with our diverse human nature making us to think the same way, exactly like robots.
A boy who is naturally inclined to dancing should go to the dance school and not waste his time studying mathematics but because the society has still streamlined itself to a certificate, such boy would run to the University hoping to get a certificate so he'll become successful.
By the way, universities teach dance, yeah but why teach dance with paper and Biro?
Why teach music with paper and Biro?
Why teach painting with mathematics?
You don't teach a swimmer in a classroom? You take him to the pool!!
You don't train a driver in the classroom, where's the car for crying out loud?.
The first step that we need to take as regarding solving unemployment crisis is that we should all stop glorifying a university certificate and making it the yardstick for success in this nation. Once this is done, the fear of success which is hindering people from bringing out the genius in them would be removed.
I would end this by saying this :
WAITING FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE JOBS WOULD NEVER IN ANY CENTURY SOLVE UNEMPLOYMENT.
