DO WE NEED A MILLION DOCTORS TO SAVE THE WORLD?
Looking at the health hazard scattered across the nook and cranny of the earth, one would begin to imagine that half of the world must become doctors to save the earth from perishing.
One in ten families have a member with a chronic disease (unverified fact... To be verified). So it all seems as if studying medicine would be the most important course on earth and that every family needs to have a member become a doctor.
DO WE NEED A MILLION LAWYERS TO HELP REDUCE CRIME?
Wait, I thought half of the world already became doctors.
It's alright. Let's sacrifice the remaining half for the law profession. Crime rate is sky rocketing daily especially in some major parts of the world.
So this is the math. We have a family of 5, two are doctors and the remaining three are lawyers.
That's a nice one. The world would have healthy people and lesser crime.
What a perfect world!!!
Quick question please... Pardon me if I ask this but I'm quite to dull to fathom how perfect this world would be.
What food would our noble doctors and lawyers eat and what cloth would they wear?
We've got a big problem in this perfect world. We need agriculturists but there's nobody left to fill in the gap.
Alright let's assume they would invent machines and robots to plant and harvest as well as produce food.
They don't have engineering skills neither do they have any skill in programming.
This perfect world seems to be lacking a lot of things already.
Don't we think the doctors and lawyers need happy moments once in a week?
Who's going to fill in for comedy, acting, dancing and all forms of entertainment.
It can never be themselves because they've just returned from work tired and need to relax but no entertainer.
What a weird world.
I'm not speaking too far. I'm talking about the current world we live in and the societal delusion we all bought.
Everyone wants to become a doctor or lawyer or engineer or pharmacist for different reasons.
Sad to say most of the reasons are for selfish interest but let's leave that axe on the tree and face the weeds on the ground.
The more we send all our kids to school to face these so called "successful dreams". We quickly forget that there are a million and one other areas of life that needs to be attended to.
Everyday, new problems/ideas arise in the world and we need to set up a new profession, new skills to attend to them in order to create a balance to the world.
But what do we have? All of us still rushing to save a world of a decade past.
We have hundreds of new skills available to be learnt but have they all been incorporated into the only platform that we have for learning (SCHOOL) ?…
NO!!!!
This is why we have a lot of imbalance in the world. We need some particular professions but no one is filling in the gap so everyone suffers.
DO WE NEED A MILLION DOCTORS TO SAVE THE WORLD IN 2018?
NO!!!
We need 2 doctors, 2 engineers, 2 robotic engineers, 2 programmers, 2 analysts, 2 financial experts and the list goes on. (just citing an example).
What does this mean? We only need a few doctors with the assistance of artificial intelligence to solve health issues.
This way, everybody has relevance and everyone would contribute to balance the earth.
We cannot create a perfect earth because in its perfection, we have lots of imperfections.
We can only work together to balance it.
